NC East Alliance Announces Chief Operating Officer 

Eastern, NC [September 4, 2026] NC East Alliance has named Steve Bastian as its new Chief Operating Officer, expanding his leadership role within the organization as it continues to grow its work across Eastern North Carolina. 

Bastian has led business services and industry relations with NC East Alliance for the past year, bringing more than 20 years of management experience and expertise to the organization. In his role, he works closely with employers and regional partners to understand their challenges and develop tailored solutions that address Eastern North Carolina’s unique workforce and industry needs. 

“Steve brings a unique combination of experience, relationships, and a deep understanding of the workforce challenges and opportunities facing Eastern NC,” said Vann Rogerson, President and CEO of NCEA.  “His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to build partnerships and develop solutions that strengthen our region’s workforce pipeline through leveraging the resources that NCEA can provide to support those efforts.”

Throughout his career, Bastian has worked with organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial firms to Fortune 500 companies. He is passionate about understanding client needs and delivering tailored solutions across diverse corporate cultures. His experience working across industries and with organizations of varying sizes provides a valuable perspective as NC East Alliance continues to support businesses and communities throughout the region.

A native of Eastern North Carolina, Bastian earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in history from North Carolina Wesleyan College. He has served on the boards of UNC Wilmington’s Cameron School of Business and the Food Runners Collaborative and has remained actively engaged in the community throughout his career.

In his expanded role, Bastian will help support the organization’s continued growth and strategic priorities while strengthening connections among businesses, educators, community partners, and other stakeholders across Eastern North Carolina.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active in the community, and relaxing with his cat Tipper.
