NC East Alliance Expands Regional Reentry and Workforce Inclusion Efforts

Eastern, NC [November 4, 2026] — NC East Alliance is pleased to announce Greg Singleton as the organization’s new Regional Director of Reentry & Workforce Inclusion. In this role, Singleton will help advance reentry and workforce initiatives across Eastern North Carolina, strengthening connections between justice-involved and justice-impacted individuals, education and training opportunities, and regional employers.

Through this work, NC East Alliance is focused on strengthening the pathway from incarceration to sustainable employment by connecting existing programs, community resources, educational institutions, and industry partners. The goal is to create a more coordinated system that supports individuals before and after release while helping employers access an often-overlooked talent pipeline.

Singleton will work closely with county and municipal officials, Local Reentry Councils, county detention centers, the NC Department of Adult Correction, NC Commerce, the U.S. Department of Labor, educational institutions, employers, and community stakeholders to identify opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and enhance reentry programming throughout the region.

A key component of this effort builds on existing Registered Apprenticeship Programs operated through Correctional Enterprises, providing individuals with industry-recognized training, practical work experience, and stackable credentials. NC East Alliance will work to strengthen connections between these opportunities and community college programs, workforce resources, and employment opportunities available upon release.

Eastern North Carolina has an opportunity to better connect this talent pipeline to the region’s workforce needs. Each year, approximately 16,600 justice-involved North Carolinians return to their communities seeking employment, stability, and opportunity. Coordinating education, workforce training, supportive services, and employer engagement can help reduce barriers to employment and create more successful transitions back into the community.

“Reentry is not a job for me, it is a lifestyle. I am honored to lead NC East Alliance in this noble work of improving lives for the better, after prison and jail,” said Singleton.

Through its Regional Director of Reentry & Workforce Inclusion, NC East Alliance will continue working to align regional partners, strengthen career pathways, and expand employment opportunities for individuals returning to their communities. This work supports both individual success and the long-term workforce and economic development of Eastern North Carolina.
