The Untapped Talent Pool Part III: People With Disabilities

Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 (10:30am)

Workforce Webinar 1 Small.png

Hiring disabled individuals can help businesses meet their talent needs while strengthening their competitive edge. By hiring individuals with disabilities, businesses can:

•            Expand their pool of talent

•            Create a culture of diversity

•            Meet their workforce needs

•            Foster creative business solutions

•            Generate goodwill among customers

A disability is considered a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Individuals with disabilities often need workplace accommodations—a modification or adjustment to a job, the work environment, or the way things are usually done during the hiring process.

By investing in recruiting, hiring, and retaining talent, including people with disabilities, businesses can give themselves a competitive edge and demonstrate their commitment to inclusion.

People with disabilities desire meaningful employment. On the job candidate side, you’ll learn how the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services helps people with disabilities achieve their goals for employment and independence. You’ll also hear how ECVC Inc. of Greenville and other similar non-profit organizations in eastern N.C. can help your manufacturing business with job training and employment services for the disabled. ECVC can offer packaging and distribution services to your business, as well. Finally, a plant manager from Colony Tire in Edenton will give a testimonial on his company’s success in hiring people with disabilities.
