Eastern North Carolina has been the key focus area for two recent studies through partnerships with NCDOT’s Office of Logistics and Freight. The first study we’ll introduce and discuss is the 2019 Eastern NC Regional Freight Mobility Plan, an in-depth look at how freight moves throughout the region. This in-depth study also highlights key freight producing industries, public and private supply chain assets and resources, current and future infrastructure, and other important dynamics to consider for industrial and commercial development in the region. The second study dives into Rural Freight Transport Needs. Much of this study was scoped specifically to the NC northeast and research identifies key drivers for freight production in the region, as well as areas of opportunity across several key industrial sectors. Both studies are bullish on eastern North Carolina’s future. Join us, NCDOT, and ECU for a review of the findings from these two important studies, as well as a discussion of how to put these recommendations into action to maximize the region’s economic, industrial, and commercial vitality.
