Economic Development Advisory Group (EDAG)
The Economic Development Advisory Group (EDAG) is comprised of economic development people from across the 13-county Eastern Region. While they come from varied backgrounds - the group iincludes professionals from education, utilities, finance, real estate and other businesses - they work with a single purpose: to promote and market the Eastern Region.
The group participates in a host of marketing activities. Members travel to trade shows and other events to help spread the story of the benefits of business in the Eastern Region. They also determine target areas and types of businesses from which to recruit; for instance in 2009, the EDAG targeted the recruitment of companies from upstate New York that are in business clusters - such as advanced manufacturing and life sciences - already established here in the Eastern Region.
The EDAG functions as a growth engine. By attracting new organizations to the Eastern Region, the group not only adds new opportunities for the people living here, it also helps attract more new businesses that, in turn, help make the Region a more attractive place to work and live.
