Defense/Aerospace Advisory Committee (DAAC)

The DAAC's mission is to attract, develop and expand businesses that are involved in the defense or aerospace industries.

The DAAC is comprised of 17 members including NCER Board Members, industry representatives, academia, government officials, and other business associates with relevant interests in the development of this cluster. The DAAC's purpose is to create a business climate conducive for the development of the defense and aerospace industry - in order to attract and keep competitive companies and develop a skilled workforce that's prepared to meet industry demand today and far into the future.

Initial projects for the DAAC include developing a non-profit, NDI/NDT facility (non-destructive inspection and testing) for composite materials. Other projects include efforts to create a regional aerospace cluster development strategy; to expand the Eastern North Carolina Science and Engineering Forum; and maximize the F-35C joint strike force fighter jets based at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.

Marketing missions have included the Paris Air Show; Poland's Aviation Valley; Regione Companie, Italy; and the Trade Winds Eastern/Southern Europe Conference, in Warsaw, Poland. The committee marketed the Region at the Aviation Week and SpeedNews Business Aerospace Conferences, in Phoenix, Arizona, as well.

The Defense/Aerospace Advisory Committee (DAAC) is making a positive difference in the region by helping grow the defense and aerospace industries. The DAAC - like the EDAG - is helping make the region more vibrant for business and more stable and promising for its people.
